Keeping an eye on Barrow

Mohammed Bhojani, a well-known and much-loved figure in the community, has announced his retirement from Visual Answers Optometrists which he founded 40 years ago.

Mohammed told us that stepping back has been a difficult decision, but one that will allow him to spend more precious time with his wife, family, and three grandchildren.

Reflecting on his career, he said that caring for the community’s eye health has been “one of the greatest privileges” of his life. He added, “It became part of my identity, my family and my life’s work.” When he opened Visual Answers, his vision was to create a warm, truly independent practice offering the highest standards of clinical care with genuine personal service.

Although stepping back, Mohammed emphasised that Visual Answers will continue to flourish. The familiar team of Ashleigh, Sam, Lucy, Caroline, and the existing optometry team, will remain, but they will now also be supported by Bayfields Opticians & Audiologists.

You may still see Mohammed in a café on the High Street, so do stop and say hello to him. He’d like that.

He shared a final reflection with Barrow Voice:

“Looking after the eyes of entire families over generations has been an absolute joy,” he said. “I have cherished every conversation and every connection. I will miss it greatly, but I know clients will continue to be cared for by an exceptional team."
